How the retainer works

You reserve a block of hours per month — commonly 40, 60 or 80 — at a rate below our hourly price. The hours are allocated to a named drafter, not to a pool, so nobody has to be briefed twice on the same project. Within that block you decide what gets worked on and in what order; we do not ask you to define a scope up front, because with overflow work the scope is rarely knowable in advance.

Work is issued and returned in your environment: your Revit template or DWG standard, your title block, your sheet numbering, your family library. Files come back the way your team expects them.

What a normal week looks like

Monday morning you send marked-up PDFs, a model link or a short written brief. Comments arriving during your working day are answered the same day — we are one time zone away, not overnight from another continent. Deliveries land at the checkpoints you set, weekly or twice-weekly, as interim sets rather than one drop at the end.

Everything runs asynchronously and in writing. There is no standing call to attend and no one waiting on someone to be free.

What happens when the pipeline is quiet

Unused hours in a month do not vanish quietly: we tell you where you stand before the month closes so you can either pull work forward or reduce the block for the next period. A retainer that silently bills for idle capacity is not a partnership, and it does not survive a second year.

Minimum term and reporting

One month minimum, then rolling. A time report goes out weekly — hours against tasks, what was delivered, what is open. You always know what the retainer bought before the invoice arrives.
